PROFILE:

Samuel Miller currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Southern Wesleyan University.

Previous choral positions include:

  • Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Kennesaw State University
  • Artistic Director and Conductor of the Kennesaw State University Community and Alumni Choir
  • Singing member and shared conducting duties of the Orpheus Men’s Ensemble of Atlanta
  • Director of Choral Activities at LaGrange College
  • 12 years of high school direction in Georgia
  • Director of the UK Choristers and assistant director of the UK Men’s Chorus

Dr. Miller’s choral work has included preparing choirs for national and divisional ACDA conferences, Kentucky and Georgia Music Educators Association conferences, an Intercollegiate Male Chorus seminar, and large scale works by Brahms, Berlioz, Rutter, and several others. Dr. Miller was recently included on the album Fugitive Footsteps as conductor of the KSU Chamber Singers in performance of holocaust memorial music. Dr. Miller also recently contributed to a collegiate textbook on the matter of working with students with disabilities while in the music education classroom.

Dr. Miller is on the faculty of the Csehy Summer School of Music where is has taught middle school choir and voice for the last several years. Csehy is a Christian music camp devoted to integrating music and faith and developing skilled musicians to use their gifts in service to the Lord.

Dr. Miller is an active member of the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education and has served in leadership roles in state chapters of both. He is an adjudicator and clinician for GMEA, ACSI, and GAPPS.
